  • Plan ahead for Fall. DISCIPLE classes are intensive Bible studies which last from September through May. Each class has a different focus and includes daily Bible reading and reflection, weekly discussion and video of Biblical scholars to deepen our understanding. Participants not only gain an appreciation for and understanding of the Bible, you will also form deep friendships with others in class. DISCIPLE I is the first class and needs to be taken before jumping into the other studies. DISCIPLE II-V can be taken in any order. We have not determined which day or time each class will be offered.
    • This fall we will offer:
DISCIPLE I: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study. This class covers the entire Bible following the story from Creation to the New Jerusalem.
DISCIPLE III: Remember Who You Are. This class covers the Old Testament Prophets and the New Testament Letters of Paul. It examines the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. Themes include: calls to remember, calls to repent, calls for renewal and calls for community.
DISCIPLE V: Jesus and the Gospels. This class invites believers to look at Jesus as portrayed in each of the four gospels and asks the question, “Who is the Jesus that you see?” This study will deepen discipleship through better understanding of who Jesus is.
If you are interested in any of these classes or want more information, please contact Patti Thomas at x218 or PattiT@smokyhillumc.org

A thousand thanks and many blessings to each one of you. Keep those sandwiches coming. Your donation of individually wrapped bologna and cheese sandwiches combined with fruit and a cookie are often the only meal those hoping for work will have. We need about 200 sandwiches weekly. This is a great mission project for children and families! Please place sandwiches in the refrigerators in the room behind Celebration Hall on Sundays by 10 am or leave in the freezers on weekdays. Lunches are then delivered each Mon. at 5:30 am.
