CONNECT/TRANSFORM/SERVE

Time For Prayer
Oct. 28, 2007
Dear Smoky Hill family,
Our annual Stewardship Sunday is Nov. 18th. As we prepare for that important spiritual decision, each of us will be reflecting on the question, “What percentage of my income is God calling me to give?” The answer requires prayer.
Beginning today and running through Commitment Sunday, Nov. 18th, members of our Smoky Hill family will share their faith journey with you on-line. Each day we invite you to take time to read, reflect and pray about these shared words. The reflections highlight this year’s stewardship focus, Connect, Transform, Serve. Our new Smoky Hill Vision Statement reflects how we hear God’s call on our church and our lives.
- Connect – Connecting with God through worship and prayer and one another in small groups
- Transform – Transforming our community to fully committed followers of Christ
- Serve – Serving God in our church and in our world
Today as we begin, I invite you reflect on your relationship with God known to us in Christ Jesus through these words.
Luke 10:27 (New International Version)
When asked, “What must I do to be saved, Jesus answered:
" 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
- Write down the concrete ways that you love God with heart, soul, strength and mind. This first week take time to look and prayer about your connection to God, in prayer, worship and small groups. Is God pleased with your level of participation?
- What one thing could you do to improve your prayer life for the next three weeks? Ask God to help you make this change.
On Nov. 18th, every member will make a commitment for the year 2008 in terms of our finances, our prayers, our church attendance, our willingness to serve, and our specific places of service. Our Connect, Transform, Serve commitment cards will be a barometer of our spiritual life. My prayer is that you grow in spiritual maturity in this season.
