OUTREACH OF LOVE
Individually wrapped bologna & cheese sandwiches , fruit and cookies are gathered weekly in our church's kitchen. SHUMC volunteers prepare and distribute food to Aurora's day laborers every week. John Richard 303-766-8535 JHRColorado@aol.com

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
A well-known international effort. Homes are built for hard-working people in need of decent and affordable housing. All construction and finishing is done by volunteers. SHUMC is helping to build a house near I-225 and Colfax in Aurora, with construction beginning in July, 2008. Wendy Hanson 303-766-0693. dhanw2@aol.com

HEIFER PROJECT
An international program created to help people become more self-sufficient by obtaining a sustainable source of food and income. Money that is raised at SHUMC is used to provide animals and/or training for people in poverty. QUILTING GROUP
Quilters gather on the second Tuesday of each month to make quilts for the homebound, premature babies and those in a health crisis. They are also made for church fund raisers.

  • PROJECT ANGEL HEART. Provides meals for people living with canceer, AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. Bobbie D'Addario 303-690-9816 BobbieD@smokyhillimc.org

  • DENUM (Denver Urban Ministries). Provides emergency food assistance, job services, outreach services and urban education for those in need. Food items are collected in the hallway. Canned and boxed goods are needed. Fran and Bob Krech. 303-690-1799. bobkrech@aol.com

  • AURORA INTERCHURCH TASK FORCE. This charity provides emergency assistance: food and clothing banks, housing, utilities, medications, transportation and Meals on Wheels. Jody Megill 303-690-3896.

    FAMILY HOMESTEAD. Offers emergency and transitional housing and supportive case management to homeless families with children. Bobbie D'Addario 303-690-9816. BobbieD@smokyhillumc.org

    RECYCLING. For no charge, you can place paper, magazines, newspapers and other recyclable items in the bins at the back of the church parking lot.

    ROCKY MOUNTAIN CONFERENCE (UMC). Africa Partnership, Native American ministries and Global Hope. These are conference emphases involving orphanages, schools, scholarships, help for war-wounded individuals and Native American leadership needs/church fellowships.

    UNITED METHODIST COMMITTEE ON RELIEF (UMCOR). A world-recognized program that provides disaster, famine and emergency relief to people suffering the effects of war, drought and natural disasters in the US and overseas. Volunteers are always appreciated.

  • Nothing But Nets Campaign
    Nothing But Nets is a campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. For only $10 you can send a net and save a life!
