MUSIC AND ARTS MINISTRY

Smoky Hill United Methodist Church offers a full range of opportunities to express your musical of fine arts talent. From choirs for all ages to instrumental groups, SHUMC has a rich and diverse fine arts heritage. VOCAL ENSEMBLES

• Chancel Choir – Lift your voice to God by singing in our adult choir any time of the year. High School students are always welcome. Nursery is provided.
  Rehearsals: Wednesday 7:00-8:30 pm in Sanctuary

• Good News Singers (GNS) – is a selected group of singers from Chancel Choir who sing spirited a capella music.
  Rehearsals: Wednesday 8:30-9:30 pm - Choir Room

• Son-Rise Singers – Adult choir that sings monthly at the 8:00 service.
  Rehearsals: 1st & 3rd Sundays 2:00 - 3:00 pm - Choir Room

• Soul Support / Adult Praise Band - singers and musicians provide praise music every 3rd Sunday of the month at the 9:15 & 10:45 services and for Worship on Wednesdays (WWF).

Youth & Children

• Youth Choir – Join other teens as we sing songs that challenge our faith and praise God.
  Rehearsals: Sundays 3:30-4:30 pm

• "Juice Box" Youth Praise Band – An ensemble for 6th – 12th graders who wish to worship God through a wide range of praise songs.

• Heavenly Harmony - Heavenly Harmony (our choir for 4th and 5th graders) meets each Sunday evening from 5:00-6:00 p.m.

• Cherub Choir–Kindergarten and 1st graders learn the fundamentals of singing and praising God through fun songs and motions. Rehearsals: Sundays 10:15-10:35 a.m.

• Joyful Voices - Joyful Voices is our choir for 2nd and 3rd graders. All are welcome to join us. Rehearsals Sunday afternoons from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Handbells

• Crystal Bells is an auditioned, experienced choir that performs in church and at massed ringings.
  Rehearsals: Thursdays 6:30-8:00 pm - Sanctuary

• New Adult Handbell Choir beginning to intermediate adult handbells.
  Rehearsals: Sundays 1:00 - 2:00 pm.

• Nouveau Carillon is a choir designed for 6th – 12th graders who would enjoy learning how to play handbells.

Instrumentalists

Regardless of whether you are an expert player or just someone shaking the dust off that old instrument, we would enjoy having you with us. Anyone with at least 2 years playing experience is welcome to participate with us. We have a place for you whether you want to be the soloist or just hide out in a section.
