The Adult Discipleship Team offered many opportunities this past year for spiritual growth and growth in understanding the Bible. Classes were offered during the week and on the weekends. Some were during the day and some in the evenings.

Providing our children, families and community with a Christian education is one of the core values of Smoky Hill United Methodist Church. Thru the year we are filled with spiritual growth, commitment to reading scripture from the Bible, learning about our savior Jesus Christ and serving others. Outreach to the local community, as well as communities around the world, can be seen in the many missions and service projects our children participated in this past year. A host of adult volunteers including, Sunday School teachers, the Children and Family Ministries’ Team, VBC Coordinators, Youth and the Cradle Care team have combined their best efforts, bringing effective Christian education to all our children at SHUMC.

The Little Disciples Infant & Childcare is a safe place for our babies and young children to be cared for and supervised by trained and CPR/First Aid certified staff. We care about the spiritual journey of both the children and the families we serve. The Cradle Care Team oversees the maintenance and operation of the nursery. The team also assist’s in the coordination of creating and maintaining the budget of the nursery and any programming.

Our IT Consultant Team is here for all technology needs or related technology topics within the church.
The Tech Team works to bring the church into the technologic age of communication and to use the benefits of technology to reach the congregation and community and promote Smoky Hill UMC.

Trailblazers met monthly. Meetings consisted of fellowship time and a sit-down, plated luncheon followed by a program of interest to active seniors.

MEN’s Group :

The SHUMC Men’s Group consists of men who team up to contribute to our faith community through meaningful and helpful projects, while sharing opportunities for fellowship in service to Christ. Our meetings are open to any men…there are no secret handshakes! Our regular meetings are at 7:30 AM on the second Saturday of each month (except June and July).

Untied Methodist Women is a faith-based membership organization of laywomen within The United Methodist Church. Members are committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ in community with other women and building the lives of people forced into the margins of society. United Methodist Women has been in mission with women, children, and youth for more than 140 years.

Welcoming/Evangelism Team:

Evangelism, no ministry in the church is more vital. Evangelism involves several key actions: telling the good news, announcing the kingdom (reign) of God, and bearing witness.

WordOut is the communications team for Smoky Hill United Methodist Church. WordOut’s mission and strategy are as follows.

“WordOut reaches our congregation and community through various media sources in order to inspire, inform, and invite participation in the life and mission of Smoky Hill United Methodist Church.”

The goal of the Worship Team at Smoky Hill United Methodist Church is to provide support for the Pastors so that our worship experiences lead people into a deeper relationship with God. Members meet monthly to review sermon themes. We discuss suggestions to be sure that our worship experiences are meeting the expectations and needs of the congregation. The team supports our music program.  It provides ushers, communion stewards, liturgists, altar care, acolytes, gathering place enhancements, candle stations, flowers, blankets, and lambs for baptism, and busy bags for family worship. It takes many people who willingly serve our church. The team members are Rev. Derek DeToni-Hill, Rev.
