If you're new to Smoky Hill, then we would like to extend an extra welcome to you!

We are a friendly and inclusive bunch! We mean it when we say ALL ARE WELCOME!!

We Love Kids!!

We welcome children of all ages to come into the worship services with their family. We understand that children sometimes get wiggly and need something to keep them occupied during services. We offer "busy bags" that contain coloring/activity sheets, crayons, markers. Children can come up front during "Children's Time," and adults are always welcome too! We offer Children's Church every Sunday, except the last Sunday of the month, which is "Worship as a Family." There is a Cry Room in the back of the sanctuary for those who desire a quiet place for their child/ren. However, we are understanding and accepting if children "make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" Children 5 and younger are also welcome to go to our Childcare/Nursery.

We offer Sunday School for Children from 10:00 – 11:00 am for all kids ages 3-12th grade during the school year from September to May. Last Sunday of the Month is “Worship as a Family,” No Sunday school.

Celebrate Children at SHUMC

To the Grownups with children:

Relax! God put the wiggles in children; don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house. All are Welcome!

Sit toward the front where it is easier for your little one to see and hear what’s going on. They don’t like seeing the back of other’s heads.

Quietly explain the parts of the service and actions of the pastor, usher, choir etc..

Sing the hymns, pray, and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you.

If you must leave the service with your child, please do, but please come back. As Jesus said, “Let the Children come to me.”

To the Congregation:

The presence of children is a gift to the church, and they are a reminder that our congregation is growing.

Please welcome our children and give a smile of encouragement to their parents. Remember that the way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to the church, to God, and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in the house of worship.
